What to bring?

Overview

What to bring?

What will you do?

Pulling ropes, reading a book on the front deck, standing behind the steering wheel next to the captain, sunbathing in the sheltered sitting area, in a word, there’s something for everyone on board of the Zeemeeuw!

So what to bring?

The weather is often a determining factor of the trip. We advice you to be well prepared for this. Especially remember to bring rainwear, also boots are very convenient for example for walking across the flats.

And also don’t forget about these, for example:
• waterproof suit
• swimming gear
• extra socks
• sturdy shoes or sneakers
• towels and tea towels
• camera
• books
• musical instruments
• sleeping bag

If you don’t have a sleeping bag, you can rent duvets for the entire trip from us.

Seasickness

Some people are afraid that they’ll get seasick whilst sailing. However seasickness is not caused by the stomach but by the equilibrium centre in the brain; so make sure that body and brain are in balance. You can do this by following the next advices:

See to it that you’re well-rested and don’t drink too much alcohol.

Dress warmly and make sure that you remain dry.

Try and focus yourself on your surroundings and do not try to think about getting seasick. A good conversation or steering the ship could prevent thinking about seasickness. The captain likes to hand over the steering wheel.

Make sure that you eat normally and well and also keep eating regularly during the trip (biscuits).

Fresh air and views toward the horizon are good remedies, so don’t stay indoors.

Travel pills (carsickness is a different form of seasickness) will also help; it’s cheaper to just buy the active ingredient of these pills, they can be obtained through a pharmacy without prescription.
It’s called CINNARIZINE, then you don’t swallow the tranquilizers which are added to the travel pills.
